Winners and losers, pt. 2

Monday, November 20, 2006

Winners and losers.

OK, here's the follow-up to the table decoration entry. Seriously folks, don't think "that's the one Karl made" or anything. Just look at the two of them, and decide which is your favorite. If there are enough "wow, that other one is awesome" votes, I'll totally just accept it.

Here's mine again. Nice. With the finishing touches of a tablecloth, and a festive Thanksgiving runner. Yes, I know my decorative terminology.

Here's "1st place". "Natural Turkey." OK, I said I'd let you be unbiased, but LOOK AT IT! Do YOU want that on your Thanksgiving table? It's an eyesore!

And look at the extra work I went to on the keyboard. Isn't that lovely? Isn't this what you want on YOUR Thanksgiving table?

I have shown you all the evidence. May the jury come to its verdict.

Finally back to 1-week compos.

I entered the PRC (People's Remix Competition) over at OCRemix for the first time in over a year. Given a source tune and a week of time, you create a remix and enter it. Here's mine:

Fast Cars, Russian Cigars.

This is just to keep you occupied while we wait for pictures of the ... "1st place" table setting.

Thanksgiving with the IT department

We here in the SFG IT department have only once entered the table decoration contest here at work. And we won hands down with our cornucopia overflowing with computer paraphernalia in a beautiful hurricane of electronic mayhem. The gorgeous pumpkin composed of electrical tape and orange ethernet cabling was genius, as well (props to my co-worker Mark).

We vowed that we'd never do it again, because there was no way we could top that. But for some reason, I was really bored one day two weeks ago, and told my fellow IT folk (Heather my boss and Mark .. just the 3 of us) that we should win again this year. After wading through the moaning, they finally agreed. I had an idea for a laptop slideshow and some techy stuff spread around the table, but the days went by, and I never got any pictures for it, and the idea was just crap. I was about ready to give up when I got a new idea in the last few days. Real monitor, fake pictures? Or fake monitor, REAL decoration?

Ah, poor guy. He had no idea what he was getting into. Just looking all cute up there on the shelf, doing absolutely nothing and living life in the spotlight. His day had come.

Well, now his guts are all over the IT floor and table. My boss is scared to death that something is going to happen to the vacuum on this thing and explode in the room. Maybe it will. I act like that's retarded because I don't want her to worry. I'll take care of it. Eventually.

But LOOK! She's so beautiful in the end. It was totally worth it, right? I also have a keyboard that has sacrificed it's life so that "Happy Thanksgiving" is plastered across the front in the place of "qwerty". I'll get a picture or two of the actual table setting. Thanks to my mom for helping me line the inside with the beautiful black curtain.

The guy that wrote this remix is so awesome ...

...that he let me play in it.

Fisherman's Revelation

Seriously hot.
